Rapé (Hapé)
Rapé (pronounced "ha-peh") is a traditional Amazonian snuff made from ground tobacco leaves and various other ingredients, such as ash, tree bark, and medicinal plants. It is used by indigenous tribes in the Amazon rainforest for medicinal, spiritual, and social purposes, primarily grounding and alignment. It is said to detoxify the pineal gland or third eye.
Rapé is administered by using a small pipe or a hollow bone. The practitioner blows the powdered mixture into your nostrils using a gentle, yet forceful exhale, using a tool called a "kuripe". Rapé is known for its powerful and immediate effects, which can include intense physical sensations, altered states of consciousness, and heightened awareness. It is used to promote mental clarity, increase focus and concentration, boost energy, and provide relief from a variety of physical and emotional conditions. In addition to its medicinal properties, rapé is also used in ceremony to facilitate spiritual experiences, connect with the divine, and promote inner healing and growth.
sananga
Sananga is a traditional Amazonian medicine made from the roots and bark of a plant called Tabernaemontana sananho. It is commonly used by indigenous tribes in the Amazon rainforest for medicinal and shamanic purposes. Sananga is prepared as an eye drop and is applied directly to the eyes. It is known for its intense and often painful effects, which include strong stinging, tearing, and temporary blurred vision. These effects are believed to clear the mind and promote mental clarity, improve vision, and provide relief for a variety of physical and emotional conditions. Sananga is traditionally used to treat a wide range of conditions, including headaches, sinusitis, inflammation, fever, and vision problems. It is also used in ceremony to enhance spiritual experiences, connect with the divine, and facilitate healing. I love to open ceremony with Sananga to calm the mind and alleviate anxieties by being forced to connect to your breath AND GO INWARD.
rapé and/or sananga ceremony
Rapé and Sananga are offerings in Kambô ceremonies but can be a ceremony of their own with meditation through prayer, mindfulness, and sound healing.
